When you are phone is about to die, Uber knows you will pay the surge price.

Surge Pricing in Uber is very common nowadays. When you are at peak place or time ,Uber surges its prices. Uber's surge price is annoying and if you can wait for 15 more minutes the pricing will come back to normal.

But,as it turns out, riders are willing to accept the surge pricing if their phone battery is very less and might switch off immediately according to keith chen, Uber's head of economic research. He was on air recently for episode of NPR's Hidden brain podcast and shared some important information on how Uber monitor the human behavior and responses.

Uber has some gret technology to see inside of your smartphone. This monitor the percentage of the battery left.If it is too low and you are looking for a cab, chances are high that you will end up paying surge prices. If the phone is about to die,the user doesn't take the risk of waiting for 10 t 15 minutes to see whether the surge pricing is getting low.

Chenn added" We absolutely don't use that data to kind of like plush you a higher surge price, but it's an interesting kind of psychological fact of human behavior"
